London

I was just talking to Nicole last night about how much I enjoy the British people. I had the fortune of spending some time in London in the past and found it to be a splendid town. I don't quite know how to describe what happened in London this morning. I guess you could call it a shame, or a tragedy. The best description I have heard was when CNN called it "the new normal." They are absolutely correct. Terrorism is a way of life in the 21st century, whether we like it or not. Over the next few days I am sure that we will hear people attempting to blame the bombings on everyone from George W. Bush to Michael Moore. Never forget that, despite the circumstances and encouragements that may have led to this new terror war, the ultimate responsibility lies with an international band of punks and bullies who hate any way of life different from their own and aim to intimidate the weak and destroy the strong until they achieve global domination. Unfortunately, our national conscience has become so politicized that the basic truths of this war cannot even be mentioned in public without a slurry of political backlash and slander. The simple fact of the matter is that the terrorists will currently explore any opportunity to attack anything that represents western civilization. If we were to remove our troops from all foreign engagements and pursue a policy of isolation the terrorists would explore any opportunity to attack anything that represents western civilization. Its not about what we do. It is about who we are. What we can do is live our lives and thumb our noses at these overgrown five year olds. Don't cancel vacations or lock yourselves in your homes. Attack the enemy by living boldly and pray that they someday get the message.

While reading your post, I wondered to myself, have we given up on the art of "peaceful discussion?" In particular, I was wondering what would happen if President Bush requested a meeting with Osama Bin Laden. Do you think OBL would show? Even if we assured his safety? And what would be the outcome? Where do negotiations appear in the Al-Qaeda handbook?

When I was in London back in the day ('96), my hotel was just around the corner from the Edgeware Road tube station. I used that station multiple times a day for several weeks. A bomb exploded there this morning. Unreal.

Unfortunately the Extremists of Islam are actually reading the Scriptures correctly. How frightening is that? The Koran of course is the sacred writings of Islam revealed by God to the prophet Muhammad during his life at Mecca and Medina. There are earlier writings and older writings. In the begining he tried to persuade both Christians and Jews and Arabs to his new faith. (During this time period you can find teachings of temperance and inclusivity) He was harshly turned away and became very bitter. Those that joined him began a bloody war against those who denied him. (No more temperance..lots of behead the infidel and attack them in the streets) The problem is that the later writings are considered to supercede earlier ones by Muslim law. So the previous statements of temperance are void. The militant imams and extremists are experts in their scriptures they know the truth of Muhammad's teachings.

Westernized Muslims do not care for this attitude and so do not believe it, but that is like a Christian denying Christ's divinity and removing all the miracles from the Bible, ala Jefferson.

The only weapon that will work on Extremists is a spiritual one. Christians are the spiritual antithesis of true Muslims (extremists) We are the only ones who can stop their Jihad and it is not with weapons of this world.

OK. good and long and so worthy of deletion.

I hate you guys. You give me long posts worthy of deletion, yet deny me the pleasure by filling them with good content. Jerks. In response to Stephen, I wish we could look into peaceful discussion, but this isn't the kind of conflict that we have encountered in the past. Bin Laden and Bush won't be able to sit down at a table, withdrawl some troops, divvy up some land ,and then be happy. Islamic extremists will only be happy when everyone lives in a manner that they dictate. Take a look at the Sharia law that has become popular in Islamic nations. There is no room for conversation with these people. I wish it was different.

Proteinstar is on to something in that a spiritual change is required. Hopefully that happens. You'll have to excuse me if my rhetoric was a bit gruff for some, but those of you who know me well are aware of how offensive I find these terrorists actions and teachings.
